The Missouri boater education certificate (also referred to as the Missouri Boaters License) is proof that a boater has demonstrated basic boating knowledge by passing an approved boating safety course and exam.
All persons born after January 1, 1984, who operate any vessel on the lakes of the state of Missouri must have on board his or her boating safety identification card issued by the Missouri State Water Patrol. The card is obtained by passing an approved boating safety course.
There is no minimum age to take the online boat safety exam.
All persons must be at least 14 years of age to legally operate a motorboat or PWC unless under the direct, onboard supervision of a parent, guardian, or other person 16 years of age or older.

Your Missouri Boating Safety Certification Card will be mailed to your home within 45 days after you purchase your permanent card.
Upon passing the exam, you will be able to immediately print out a temporary Missouri Boating Safety Certification Card online, which will be valid for 60 days.
