The Missouri State Water Patrol has changed the guidelines for distance learning. So, the old Boat Missouri boat and PWC safety course and test was discontinued on March 16, 2009.

Do I have to get a Missouri Boating Safety Certification Card (Missouri boater's license)?

  • All persons born after January 1, 1984, who operate any vessel on the lakes of the state of  Missouri must have on board his or her boating safety identification card issued by the Missouri State Water Patrol. The card is obtained by passing an approved boating safety course.

What is the minimum age to obtain a Missouri Boating Safety Certification Card ?

  • There is no minimum age to take the online boat safety exam.

How do I get my Missouri Boating Safety Certification Card (Missouri boater's license)?

How much does the online boater exam cost? How much does the permanent Missouri Boating Safety Certification Card cost?

  • The online Certification Exam costs $15.
  • Upon passing the exam, your permanent Missouri Boating Safety Certification Card my be purchased online for an additional $15.00.

When will I receive my Missouri Boating Safety Certification Card in the mail?

  • Your Missouri Boating Safety Certification Card will be mailed to your home within 45 days after you pass the exam.

Do I get a temporary card or certificate until my permanent boater's license arrives?

  • Upon passing the exam, you will be able to immediately print out a temporary Missouri Boating Safety Certification Card online, which will be valid for 60 days.

How do I replace my Boating Safety Certification Card if I’ve lost it or it has been damaged?
