Missouri Boating Video Course

The Boat Missouri video home-study course on boat and PWC (jet ski) safety is the official boating video course of the Missouri State Water Patrol. Successful students receive their official Boating Safety Certification Card (commonly known as a boating license). Taking a Missouri boating course will allow you to comply with Missouri boater education law requiring boating safety education certification, and may also make you eligible for a discount on your boat or PWC (jet ski) insurance! What's Included With the Boat Missouri Video Course

  • Instructional Video: An informative 70-80 minute video to watch at home covering boating safety, safe operation and boating laws explained by officers of the Missouri State Water Patrol.
  • Student Manual: A written guide to boating safety, Missouri boating laws and navigational procedures with helpful study exercises.
  • Missouri Certification Test: A mail-in test to take at home to receive your boater certification card. This test is required to fulfill the law and to qualify for boat insurance discounts.

  2. View the Boat Missouri video. Read the manual and complete the study exercises.
  3. Take the enclosed test and mail in the test answer sheet along with the $5.00 processing fee and, if you choose at this time, the permanent certification fee. Upon receiving a passing score (80% or better) on the Certification Exam, you will be mailed a temporary Missouri Boating Safety Certification Card that will be valid for 60 days.
  4. The State of Missouri requires persons passing this course to purchase a permanent, lifetime Missouri Boating Safety Certification Card. You may add the $15.00 permanent certification fee at the time you send in your $5.00 processing fee and exam answer sheet, or you may contact the Missouri State Water Patrol on your own at a future date to purchase your permanent certificate.
  5. Send a copy of your boater certification card to your insurance agent and start receiving your insurance savings!
