- Take the Ohio online boating exam
- Pay $29.50—one time only, after you pass
- Upon passing, you will receive your official Ohio
boater education card by mail within 2 - 3 weeks. This card
is commonly known as the Ohio boating license.

- The online Certification Exam costs $29.50—one time only, after you pass. There is no charge
for the Ohio boater education card .
When will I receive my Ohio boater
education card in the mail?
- Your Ohio boater education card will be mailed to your home
within 2 - 3 weeks after you pass the exam.
Do I get a temporary card or certificate
until my permanent boater's license arrives?
- Upon passing the exam, you will be able to immediately print
out a temporary Ohio boater safety certificate online,
which will be valid for 45 days.
How do I replace my boater education
card if I’ve lost it or it has been damaged?
- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (DNR) issues duplicate
cards. Call Mary Hughes or Teri Crace at 614-265-6480. The DNR will need your name, date of birth and the date that the student took the exam.
