Utah Boating License Overview

Boat Utah is the official boating safety course of Utah State Parks and Recreation. Taking this safe boating course will allow you to get your Utah boating license online.

You must be at least 16 years of age to take the online boating test. If you are a youth 12 to 17 years of age and wish to operate a personal watercraft on Utah waters, you must complete Utah's Personal Watercraft Education Course.

Study the official boating safety course material Study the Utah safe boating course material and take one or more Practice Tests—free of charge.
Take the official boating license test Take the Utah Boating Exam. Pay $24.50—one time only, after you pass. When you pass, you will receive your permanent Utah's Boating Course Certificate by mail. If you need certification more quickly, you may order an expedited certificate for an additional fee.
