Who Needs the Card?
Although not required in Alaska, many boaters take the boat safety course in order to save on insurance or for boating in other states that require a certificate or boating license.
Alaska does not have any minimum age requirements for vessel operators.
There is no minimum age to take the online course and boater exam.
Good in Other States
All states that have mandatory boater education requirements will accept an Alaska Boater Education Certificate.
Whether or not your state requires boater education, learning about the rules of the water, along with your state’s boating laws and regulations, can keep you safe when on the water.
Carry the Card Vessel operators who are required to have a Boater Education Card in their state must carry the card on board the vessel and have it available for inspection by an enforcement officer.
Penalty Not carrying your Boater Education Card when one is required in your state can result in a fine.
