Course Outline

To adjust your flotation device:

  • Use the straps and/or buckles to make sure that it fits comfortably yet snugly at your waist. This will keep the flotation device from moving up too close to your ears if you end up in the water.
  • Make sure that the device isn’t too tight. SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) and standard type lifejackets must be worn loose enough so that water can flow under the lifejacket to turn the wearer face up.
