Course Outline

Introducing non-native species into a waterway can upset the ecosystem and hurt the environment. Aquatic nuisance species include zebra mussels, quagga mussels, milfoil, hydrilla, and various other plants and animals. These non-native species most often spread by hitching a ride on vessels. When transplanted into new waters, these organisms proliferate, displacing native species and damaging the water resource.
