Vermont State Police Marine Patrol Patch

The boating laws of Vermont are enforced by the troopers of the Vermont State Police, game wardens, USCG officers, and any other authorized peace officer or law enforcement officer. The USCG also has enforcement authority on all federally controlled waters.

  • An officer has the authority to stop and board your vessel in order to check that you are complying with state and federal laws.
  • It is illegal to refuse to follow the directive of a person with law enforcement authority.
