Equipment
The AHJ should ensure that all equipment needs are met.
- Maintain the equipment inventory.
- Check for the proper personal protective equipment:
- Shore-based rescue—reaching and throwing devices
- Boat-based rescue—type, size, engine, and outfitting
- Go/direct contact rescue—Type V rescue vests, ice rescue suits, and boat lowering systems
- Provide breach and cutting devices.
- Keep the necessary medical supplies.
- Have vehicles and trailers to transport the equipment.
- Check for the proper personal protective equipment:
- Identify and follow all manufacturers’ guidelines for inspection, cleaning, and storage.
