Boat Michigan is the official boating safety course of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR). If you are 12 or older, this online safe boating course can be taken in place of the classroom course as preparation for the in-person exam, which is required to obtain your Michigan boating safety certificate.

Take the Michigan Boating Pre-Certification Exam for $29.50, paid only when you pass. When you pass, you may instantly print out a course certificate.

Then, contact the Marine Division within the Sheriff's Office in your county to register for your in-person exam. Your printed course certificate will be your admission ticket to the in-person exam. After you pass the in-person exam, you will receive your official boating safety certificate from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Passing the Michigan boating safety course may make you eligible for a discount on your boat or PWC insurance. Send a copy of your boater safety certificate to your agent and start saving!
