Reporting an Incident
By law, the operator or owner of a boat involved in an incident must file a written report with the OSMB:
- Within 48 hours of the incident if a person dies, disappears, or is injured and receives medical treatment or...
- Within 10 days when damage to property exceeds $2,000 or a complete loss of any boat (motorized or non-motorized).
Passengers are responsible for reporting the incident if the operator is physically incapable of doing so.
