You need education if you will be operating a motorized boat over 10 hp or a PWC in Oregon.

Oregon Boating Education Requirements

Anyone under the age of 12 years may not legally operate any vessel. Anyone between the ages of 12 and 15 years:

  • May legally operate a vessel powered by a motor of 10 horsepower or less, without any supervision and…
  • May legally operate a vessel powered by a motor of more than 10 horsepower only if he or she is accompanied by a person 16 years or older who possesses a valid boater education card. (If the vessel is a personal watercraft, the person must be 18 years or older.)
  • Oregon State Marine Board Requirements

    You must be at least 12 years old to take this online course.

    You do not have to be a resident of Oregon to take this online course.
