To provide community education and establish proactive plans to reduce or eliminate water-related incidents:
- Use water safety media campaigns such as National Safe Boating Week.
- Take water safety awareness programs directly to user groups.
- Establish signage and rescue equipment for known water rescue hotspots.
- Promote the use of PFDs.
- Work with news organizations and other partners on stories related to water safety.
National Safe Boating Week
Remember that the National Safe Boating Week is always at the end of May. During this week, members of the National Safe Boating Council, including the Coast Guard Auxiliary, U.S. Power Squadrons, State Boating Law Administrators, Army Corps of Engineers, and other groups, will provide special programs on safe boating.
