Penalties for Boating Under the Influence

Colorado law establishes the following penalties.

• The penalty for a first conviction of BUI is mandatory jail time of at least five days, not to exceed one year.
• A fine of $600 to $1,000 also may be added by the court but is not mandatory.
• The convicted person also will lose operating privileges for three months.
