Reporting an Incident

A vessel operator involved in a boating incident must report the incident to CPW within five days after the date of the incident if the incident caused:

• Loss of life or disappearance from a vessel or…
• An injury which required medical treatment beyond first aid or…
• Damage to the vessel(s) or other property exceeding $2,000 or total loss of the vessel.

Incidents should be reported on incident report forms available from CPW. The complete Boating Incident Form can be downloaded by visiting the CPW website. All reports must be submitted to:

Failure to report a boating incident is a misdemeanor.
