Giant origami boat launched in England
Last week, BBC News reported that engineers in England had constructed a twelve-foot long origami-style boat made entirely out of paper!
The boat was launched by schoolchildren and captained by Morwenna Wilson, a descendant of notable engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel and an engineer herself. Brunel is known for designing the 19th-century long-distance passenger ship SS Great Britain, which was made entirely of iron. Designing cutting-edge boats must run in the family!
Even though she was sure the origami boat was seaworthy, Morwenna ensured her safety by wearing a life jacket—just in case. And for any boaters setting sail on this side of the pond, remember that no vessel is too big, too small or too unique to follow the U.S. Coast Guard life jacket requirement!
