Course Outline

Vessel operators may not hear sound signals or voices if the engine is not adequately muffled. All vessel engines that have open-air exhausts and the capacity to operate at more than 4,000 rpm must have in use a factory-installed muffler, an exhaust water manifold for noise reduction, or another effective muffling system.
