Who should take this course?

This course is for Florida residents and visitors who do not already possess a valid boating education certificate but who wish to rent a boat or PWC to operate on Florida waters. However, you must be 18 years of age or older to rent a boat or PWC.

How much does it cost to get my Florida Temporary Boating Certificate?

The total cost is $9.99. This includes $3.00 for the exam fee and $6.99 for access to study material and unlimited exam attempts.

The state of Florida also offers an online exam with no study guide access. The total cost is $8.00. This includes $3.00 for the exam fee and $5.00 for the service fee. If you choose the exam-only option and fail, you will have to re-register and pay to take the exam again.

Do I have to complete the course all at once?

You may complete the course at your own pace. The course can be completed in one sitting or completed a little at a time over several days. All pay-up-front courses are available for 90 days from time of registration and payment.

Do I have to take an online exam?

The Temporary Boating Certification Exam is the exam you take at the end of the online course. You must score at least 76% on the exam to pass. You have unlimited attempts to pass the exam. If you don’t complete the exam in one session, don’t worry. When you log in later, you will be taken to the first unanswered question of the exam.

About Your Certification

What is the proof of online Boat Florida Rental Course completion?

Once you pass and pay for the online course, you will receive the Temporary Boating Certificate. This is your proof of online course completion. This certificate EXPIRES 90 days after course completion.
