Indiana law designates the following dangerous operating practices as unsafe.

Examples of unsafe conditions are:

  • Loading the vessel beyond the recommended capacity shown on the capacity plate installed by the vessel manufacturer
  • Allowing any occupant, including the operator, to ride on the gunwale or on the bow, if the vessel is less than 21 feet in length, where they may fall overboard
