Course Outline

The operator, another passenger, or owner of a vessel involved in an accident must immediately notify the nearest state park ranger or other law enforcement officer if:

  • A person dies or disappears or...
  • A person is injured and receives medical treatment beyond basic first aid or...
  • Damage to the vessel or other property exceeds $2,000.

The operator, owner, or other person on board must submit a completed and signed Owner/Operator Boating Accident Report to USPR within 10 days of the accident. Accident report forms are available from the USPR’s Administrative Office or a boating ranger, or by visiting the USPR website.
