Course Outline

  • When attaching straps:
    • Avoid bungee cords or other elastic cords that may let the boat shift when driving at highway speeds.
    • Use proper tie-downs or nonslip knots.
    • If you mount a boat upright, place a cushioning material between the straps and the gunwales or coaming to prevent abrasion.
  • When transporting a boat or board over a long distance, stop periodically to examine the straps and re-tie them if they have loosened.
