Course Outline

To stand up on the paddleboard from the kneeling position:

  • Put the paddle across the board and in front of you.
  • While holding onto the paddle, move one foot up under your body.
  • Move the other foot forward while slowly standing up.
  • Keep the paddle perpendicular to the board until you are standing and balanced. Your feet should be shoulder-width apart with one foot slightly ahead of the other one.

To stand up on the paddleboard from the kneeling position using the tripod method:

  • Put the blade of the paddle in front of you and in the center of the board. The grip should point toward the sky.
  • Grip the paddle with one hand above the other one but not touching.
  • Move one foot up under your body.
  • Walk your hands up the shaft of the paddle while you move your other foot forward.
  • Hold onto the paddle until you are standing and balanced. Your feet should be shoulder-width apart with one foot slightly ahead of the other one.
