Discharge of Trash
Many forms of litter can kill birds, fish, and marine mammals. For example, turtles and ducks can become tangled in discarded fishing line or plastic six-pack rings.
- It is illegal to dump garbage or plastics into any state or federally controlled waters. Bring all trash back to shore to dispose of it properly.
- If you go on shore during a paddlecraft outing, always respect the natural resources. To “leave no trace” that you were there:
- Do not litter—carry out what you carry in.
- Leave the land better than you found it.
